e-Invoicing .. what is it?

Starting 31 March 2022, central government agencies must be able to receive invoices in an electronic format. This marks the first step in making Business to Government (B2G) e-Invoicing mandatory in New Zealand. The government estimates savings of $4.4 billion over 10 years using the electronic system.

e-Invoicing means no PDFs, no paper, no scanning and no emails. It can:

  • enable faster payments and improve cash flow
  • reduce processing time
  • improve accuracy and security.

e-Invoicing is the direct exchange of invoice information between your suppliers’ or buyers’ accounting systems, even if those systems are different. Click here to read more about e-Invoicing.

Xero has the ability to do e-invoicing now and click here for more info.
