The Scammers are back Part 2

Further to the blog article this month, the other major threat you need to consider is clicking on email attachments.

We have received a couple recently, particularly purporting to “You have a delivery” and asking to click on the attachment to view. That attachment is the deadly blow, planting software on your computer that the scammer then exploits your system in the background without you knowing.

So moral of the story is don’t open an email or an attachment from someone you don’t know.

Then there is ransomware, where the scammer holds you and your data to ransom. You might think this is just for big business but talking with our insurance broker, it is more common in small businesses than we realise as we don’t hear about it.

Just out of interest, I went back and reviewed our last monthly firewall report .. on average we had 315 network attacks every minute and 54 malware attacks per day! Lucky we have a very strong firewall with multiple layers of security.
