Xero MFA
By now, as a user of Xero, you would have had the pop up screen notifying you on the impending mandatory multi-factor authentication (MFA).
With the increased cyberattacks now occurring in NZ and around the world, Xero has taken this step to help keep your data secure. MFA gives you another level of protection even if your account is hacked.
What this means is that when you login to Xero, you will be asked to submit a code or to verify that you are trying to login.
To setup this up there are 2 options –
- Use the Xero Verify app that you download and put onto your smartphone or tablet; OR
- Use a MFA program on your computer that will generate a code
So here is the link to the Xero MFA page which has more information plus near the bottom has the video tutorials for the setup of Xero Verify, Google Authenticator and then setup where you don’t have a smartphone or tablet.
Some comments –
Xero Verify – the benefit in using Xero Verify is that is will push a notification to your device and then you click the notification to confirm rather than having to enter a code or the like. For more info on Xero Verify click here
If your device can’t take the Xero Verify app, download and use the Google Authenticator app
You will need to use some form of authentication so click on the Xero MFA page above to get going
