The Scammers are back
The scammers are back and not only the normal old e-mails but also phone calls!!
The common old IRD scam e-mail is getting more and more authentic with e-mail headers and logos all now included. (See below for examples and what to look out for). I also personally received one under the heading of the NZTA for a vehicle licence – I had to stop and think twice about it!
PLEASE do not click on any links. Being your accountant we look after all taxes so the IRD shouldn’t be contacting you direct about a tax refund. So have a look at the examples below (NOTE – the incorrect email address – a dead give away) and if you are still unsure either forward the e-mail to us or give us a call.
If you get a phone call, just ask them to ring us as your tax agent – don’t give our phone number as the IRD will have that already.
